Broadcasting & Production

Mike Bishop began his broadcasting career over 30 years ago. While still in high school he worked part time at Bermuda Broadcasting Company on ZBM-1, 1230am their easy listening station. Upon graduation Mike assumed a full time role on the drive home show and eventually became program director for the station.

Seeking to expand his work experience Mike lived in Los Angeles in the early 1980’s returning to Bermuda at the urging of friend and singer Frankie Laine who thought Mike should look to television and introduce Bermuda to a TV Talk Variety Show, which is how ‘On Tonight’ was born.

This two season Bermuda TV offering produced by MBP featured a wide cross section of Bermuda’s entertainment community and newsmakers in addition to bringing in overseas celebrities. The show traveled to Hollywood for celebrity interviews during its second season.

In the early 90’s Mike once again put his talent for producing to the test with The Bermuda Sunrise Show which aired live every weekday from 7-8:30am.

This show which aired for two seasons on VSB TV-11 featured newsmakers of the day and daily features ranging from cooking, to segments showcasing the work of The Bermuda Biological Station and Bermuda National Trust. During the 1992 season Bermuda Sunrise went to Hollywood to film features for the show.

For the past 19 years Mike has been station manager for VSB Radio and Television and has produced countless radio and television shows, telethons and in 2008 his company MBP was hired to write, shoot and edit a documentary about Bermuda’s legendary Talbot Brothers (www.talbotbrothersbermuda.com).

If you are looking to expand on that next great idea for your production, require voiceover talent or location scouting please consider Mike Bishop Productions.
